Funny how the morning goes
Like grains of sand between your toes
Funny how the moments pass
While leaving footprints in the grass
Funny how the stars still shine
Though we can't see them all the time
Funny how the rain is sweet
Yet bitter tears are incomplete
Funny how a bee can sting
But honey sweetens everything
Funny how the story goes
With painted words and haunting prose
Funny where the time all went
Tomorrow waits but can't be spent
Funny how the moon is new
When it was young the earth was too
Funny how we live in sin
Then pray to God and start again
Funny how we eat and eat
Until we cannot see our feet
Funny how the barn is warm
Though doors are open in the storm
Funny how we cry in vain
And never seem to stop the pain
Funny how the sailors roam
But always dream about their home
Funny how the moments pass
While leaving footprints in the grass
